Students of the Graphic Design Department of our university had the opportunity to exhibit their creative processes and design skills under the direction of Lecturer Selen İmge Yakupoğlu within the scope of the Illustration course. Under the direction of Selen İmge Yakupoğlu, they had the opportunity to exhibit their creative processes and design skills in the exhibition titled “Reading and Seeing: The Transformation of Books” exhibition opened on December 16, 2024. This impressive 3-day exhibition takes viewers on a creative journey through the world of book design and brings together projects that illustrate the power of visual arts.

The works in the exhibition consist of projects in which graphic design students discover that the book is not only a means of communication, but also a visual art form. In these works, the physical structure of books is shaped by students through folding, carving, drawing and other creative techniques.

Each book symbolizes a different world; some are manipulated to add deeper meaning, some are depicted with drawings, and some are completely reshaped. Students combine traditional and digital design techniques, treating books as a form of artistic expression.

In each design, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the relationship between student and book, the power of visual language and the role of book design in creating meaning. The exhibition sheds light not only on the aesthetic aspects of graphic design, but also on the role of book design in creating meaning.
